What is Johnny Mac's Sporting Goods?Johnny Mac’s remains one of the largest independent team sports dealers in the Midwest. There are five retail stores located throughout the St. Louis Metro Area, as well as full divisions in Springfield, MO and Lansing, MI. In addition, Johnny Mac’s employs team and institutional sales specialists to assist organizations outside the vicinity of our brick-and-mortar locations.
Johnny Mac’s, however, is more than a network of stores and salesmen. It’s a family tradition. The St. Louis-based company was founded by local umpire/ referee John A. McArthur. Johnny Mac, as he was known, understood the values that team sports instill in young people, as well as the opportunity for developing athletes to get an education and build a future as a result of their participation in athletics. Inspired by his desire to assist athletes, he and wife Eleanor opened the first "home team" store on historic Route 66 in 1967. Their children soon became involved in the family business, and the company quickly grew into the comprehensive team sports dealer that it is today!

You won't find any hunting, fishing or camping supplies muddying our waters. Johnny Mac's has carved out its niche in supplying the core team sports (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, track, volleyball, wrestling and countless others) while maintaining a "full-service" experience. Whether it's pro-level protective equipment and customized team uniforms to kick off the season opener or personalized trophies for the season-end awards banquet, quality is the hallmark of every item we sell. Our staff understands the definition of “old school” customer service as defined by our founder. At Johnny Mac’s, customer service is all about how you treat people. It involves listening to customers and helping them fulfill their needs. Every athlete is different. That's why we strive to educate our sales staff on the latest products and technology, so our sales staff has the knowledge required to assist athletes in making informed decisions for their chosen sport!

The familiy tradition continues . . .
Johnny Mac’s endures 40-plus years later. Founder John A. McArthur has since retired and turned the mantle over to son John S. McArthur, who became “Johnny Mac” for a new generation. Today, his younger brothers Bob McArthur (President & CEO) and Rick McArthur (CFO) carry on the model founded by their father and upheld by their big brother with a passion for providing local athletes with quality products and services in a family-friendly environment!
