FLAT BOTTOM V SKATE SHARPENING NOW AVAILABLE ST. LOUIS (Updated 05.17.10) -- Bite or glide? Skaters can now have both, thanks the NEW Flat Bottom V (FBV) sharpening method. Developed by the pros at Blackstone Sports, the FBV technique re-shapes steel to produce the flat gliding surface of a shallow hollow w/ the marked edges of a deep hollow. The FBV difference is instantly noticeable. The edges will feel sharper; it's like skating on at a 2" depth with the edges of a 1/2" hollow! This results in increased speed and glide time while drastically reducing drag and the average number of strides needed. Flat Bottom V: Conserve Energy. Perform Better. Feel the FBV difference! Have your skates professionally sharpened at select Johnny Mac's stores.
Most skaters should start with a 100/50 FBV (equates to ½” depth). Need more bite? Try switching to a 100/75 FBV (equates to 3/8” depth). Need less? Try switching to a 90/75 FBV (equates to 5/8” depth). Need help? Trained and certified by St. Louis Blues Head Equipment Manager Bert Godin, the staff at Johnny Mac's can assist skaters in finding the proper FBV hollow depth for their age and skill level. Don't forget to try our full range of services, including Sani Sport and Custom Skate Radius & Profiling. |
